Nitinol Wire
Nitinol wire is a nickel-titanium (NiTi) alloy wire prized for two defining properties (superelasticity and shape memory) that let it flex, recover, and return to a set shape. Resonetics draws superelastic, medical-grade nitinol wire with tightly controlled composition and thermo-mechanical processing to deliver fatigue and kink resistance, and biocompatibility for demanding device geometries.
This production begins with the highest quality ingot, which is first drawn into coil and then carefully reduced to the desired wire diameters through a controlled drawing process.
Nitinol Wire Applications
Nitinol’s mechanical properties include excellent corrosion resistance, fatigue performance, and exceptional elasticity. These characteristics make our nitinol wire suitable for many medical device applications, including:
- Stents
- Catheters
- Endodontic files
- Mandrels
- Baskets
- Surgical instruments
- Snares
- Guidewires
Nitinol Wire Finishes
- Soft oxide (light)
- Hard oxide (dark)
- Amber oxide
- Etched (oxide-free)
- Pickled
- Etched and mechanically polished (oxide-free polished)
