Nitinol Processing
Resonetics® is vertically integrated from nitinol melting through finished component manufacturing, giving us greater control over critical processing steps, including laser cutting, shape setting, and electropolishing, to help optimize material properties and device performance. We collaborate with your engineering team from concept through production, leveraging in-house tooling design and ultrafast femtosecond laser technology to achieve tight tolerances for components used in stents, delivery systems, structural heart devices, and more.
Laser Cutting
We use ultrafast femtosecond laser systems to cut nitinol with feature sizes as small as 0.012 mm (0.0005”)and material thickness from 0.012–0.5 mm (.0005” - .0196”), producing highly accurate shapes with minimal thermal damage and less post-processing. That means less downstream rework and faster turnaround for stents, valve frames, and delivery-system components.

Shape-Setting
We offer multiple nitinol shape-setting processes with precise heat treatment control in the 500–550°C range, advanced automated equipment, and in-house custom tooling design. Controlling both temperature and tooling mass lets us produce repeatable, complex geometries, from neurovascular components to larger structural heart frames, while preserving nitinol's shape memory and superelastic properties.

Electropolishing
Our scientific, precision-based approach to electropolishing produces smooth, corrosion-resistant surfaces critical for medical device applications. Automated, ISO-aligned processing delivers high-quality, repeatable, and reliable surface finishes on nitinol components and parts of any shape or complexity.

Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)
Electrical discharge machining (EDM) uses controlled electrical sparks to remove material and create precise features without direct contact between the tool and part. Preserving nitinol’s superelasticity and mechanical properties make EDM ideal for orthopedic and cardiovascular applications.
