Roll-to-Roll Laser Cutting & Ablation

Our proprietary roll-to-roll laser systems cut microchannels and ablate features in films, foils, adhesives, and tapes with exceptional speed and precision. By collaborating closely with you to understand the critical requirements of your design, we develop a manufacturing process that not only meets your specifications but also scales efficiently to high-volume production.

Advantages of Laser Ablation

Laser ablation removes thin layers of material with minimal heat transfer. The process is highly versatile, as the same setup can cut a wide variety of shapes within a given material thickness. Some advantages of roll-to-roll laser ablation include:

  • Cost-Effective
  • Minimal heat transfer
  • Environmentally Friendly
  • Flexible
  • Precise
  • Repeatable
  • Fast

Materials

We process many different materials with our roll-to-roll laser systems, including, but not limited to:

  • Acrylic Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives
  • Plastic Films
    • Polyester
    • Polycarbonate
    • COC/COP (cyclic olefin polymer or copolymer)
    • Polyimide
  • Metalized Films
    • Gold
    • Copper
    • Aluminum
    • Platinum
    • Silver
  • Custom Materials

Precision Alignment & Integrated Circuitry

Our advanced laser processing systems automatically align to existing features in the part or other fluidic layers, eliminating the alignment issues often encountered with conventional processing technologies. In addition to precise alignment, our laser systems can also be used to create custom circuitry integrated directly into the device, delivering greater functionality and design flexibility.
