Rotary and Flatbed Die Cutting

We use rotary and flatbed die cutting to press and mechanically cut features into pressure-sensitive materials. These processes create the layers and features used to build up microfluidic devices or other components. We have highly automated equipment that can quickly cut the materials with precision and repeatability. Our experts can help you take advantage of this manufacturing technology and develop a product that can quickly be prototyped and easily scaled into high-volume manufacturing.

Flatbed Die Cutting Applications

Flatbed die cutting is a process where a steel rule die punches out parts. It works by driving the die in a downward motion through pressure-sensitive materials. Medical die cutting is suitable for manufacturing products from many materials, such as fabric, fiber, paper, plastic, metal, rubber, foam, foil, composites, and laminates. Advantages of this cutting method include:

  • Suitable for larger and thicker materials
  • Sharper, crisper cuts
  • Minimal material deformation
